Both lists include two wild card options to even it out to ten...
#9 BRING A CHARACTER HOME / NAME A CHARACTER NOT LISTED: For example...if you used to like CourAJ and don't like any of the other options for Courtney on canvas...use slot #9 to bring AJ home.
Or...if you have a hankering for Brian/Courtney even though Brian is not listed as one of the original eight, you can use #9 for him.
#10 CREATE A NEW CHARACTER / DEATH: For example, if you can't think of ANYONE you would want to pair Ric, but you know what KIND of character he needs, use slot #10 to say that you think they need to create an entirely new character for him (and if you like, list the personality traits for that character that you have in mind...hell, name her if you want).
Or, if you can't find a use for a character and don't want to see him or her in ANY pairing in particular, you can choose to kill them off re: the death option. Because we're all about the drama here on the GH Spoiler Thread.
(But don't go crazy with the "death" option, folks...you've only got two chances to use it, once for a female character and once for a male character.)

Couples That I Will Tolerate and Occasionally Enjoy Sam McCall + Sonny Corinthos Reasoning: I don't want her with Jax anymore and I don't want him with Carly anymore, and they have pretty good chemistry and due to the success of Las Vegas it will probably be a long, long time before VM comes back (and I used my "Bring a Character Home" option on someone else further below anyway). I'll go with this as a diversion.
Skye Quartermaine + Luke Spencer Reasoning: True, for Luke there will always and forever be Laura...but if they are going to pair him up with someone while GF is gone, Skye is a pretty good option...both are very talented actors, and they share good chemistry. I'm not head-over-heels in love with them, but I enjoy watching them on screen. If they get annoying, though, I reserve the right to change my opinion.
Elizabeth Webber + Ric Lansing Reasoning: I don't love, love, love this couple, but I really don't mind them, so I'll keep them together. They are really and truly in love...have good chemistry...and they don't annoy me (probably because they don't need loads of unnessecary airtime to be considered an established couple on the show). Ric does need someone who will make him a better man, to keep him hin check, and Liz is apparently that person. Plus if they ever do decide to go into his background and issues, he'll need her support.
Carly Spencer + Lorenzo Alcazar Reasoning: When I was making my list, these were the last two that remained after I had paired everyone else. I don't hate them...I don't even mind them much. But there needs to be a MAJOR overhaul of this relationship before I begin to really feel it. For now I just tolerate them.

I think they could be good together...I'd love to see them as parents, raising their daughters (little Baby K and that darling Serena from Port Charles).
Courtney Matthews + Jasper Jacks Reasoning: When you've got Sonny, Carly, Jason and Courtney as one happy little family, IMO that is very very boring and allows very little room for conflict. I think that Courtney works better as a character when she is dating one of Sonny's enemies. Who better than Jax? These keeps the Jax and Sonny rivalry going without them against one another over a love interest...but rather, over Sonny's little sister. Plus, they have good chemistry and I think that Courtney could have more fun with Jax than she could with Jason.
Faith Roscoe + Lucky Spencer Reasoning: Oh come on. This would be the funniest pairing EVER. Faith's the baddest girl on canvas...Lucky is the purest guy on canvas. I can't think of anything I want to do with either of them. So my solution is to pair them up together. See what happens. If nothing else, they would probably have great chemistry.

Nikolas Cassadine + New Character: "Ryan Scorpio" Reasoning: Right now Nikolas is boring. He's a yawn-fest. I don't particularly want to kill him off, and at the same time I can't think of anyone on canvas that I want him to be paired with. I don't even really want Lydia back because there's no way I can see that working. So...let's bring a new, male Scorpio to town...Robin's brother, twin, cousin, I don't give a d**n -- that builds up the Scorpio family, and gives Nikolas the chance to be attracted, quite unexpectedly, to this handsome stranger. Nikolas, still engaged to Emily, will try to fight it but Ryan will make it very difficult for him. This kind of "complication" would throw the Spencer and Cassadine families for a loop...just the kind of thing they need.
Emily Quartermaine + New Character: "Curt Masterson" Reasoning: At first I was like, okay, let's pair her with Lucky, since she has pretty good chemistry with GV. But then I decided that that would be very boring. I mean what do you do with that? I don't need to see yet another guy fighting for this chick. I can think of better uses for Lucky. So then I was like, okay, let's kill her off. But I'm feeling generous today (and I'm sure many, many of you are going to pick Death anyway). So I created a new character for her. The only way Emily will ever be tolerable to me again is if she ends up falling in love with a guy she hates, who in turn hates her. That fills several of my needs: for angst, for a love/hate relationship, and to see Emily SUFFER.

Lydia + AJ Reasoning: They can recast these characters or keep the same actors...I just want AJ to come back with his rich pregnant dog wife so we can have my obsession: Alan James "Jamie" Quartermaine III. I miss both AJ and Lydia so much. Their return would also help solidify the Quartermaine family.
I noticed a trend when I picked my couples.
The ones I said I could tolerate are all established couples or possible couples on the show.
The ones I said I could really like have a slim chance of happening.
The ones I said I would love have practically zero chance of happening...especially making Nikolas gay, I don't think Guza would ever do something like that (and more's the pity).

I figured out I should have changed it right after I paired Courtney and Ric, who are Sonny's siblings...thought of the ick factor and then realized that you probably meant Lorenzo instead. Even though ALW and RiH had pretty good chemistry.
But why Faith/Jason? He'd be better with Sam. Then you could have the whole Brazen-dynamic.

Alexis Davis + Luke Spencer Great chemistry. They would be hilarious.
Carly Spencer + AJ Quartermaine Courtney Matthews + Lorenzo Alcazar My quad, I would love Carly&AJ with Sarah B playing Carly, but then again I really adore CourAJ. Courtney&Alkie have great chemistry and I think it would be interesting. I do love CarLo, though
Emily Quartermaine + Lucky Spencer I've always loved them, especially with JJ and AT. I've only enjoyed NL with GV.
Robin Scorpio + Nikolas Cassadine Can't go wrong with this. Tons of story. I'll always want J&R in the end as long as Bob isn't writing, but if he is so Nik&Robin it is.
Sam McCall + Rick Lansing They would have chemistry.
Faith Roscoe + Jason Morgan Why not? She would make fun of him.
Elizabeth Webber + Jasper Jacks I could only kill two, though I might like CoJax.
Skye Quartermaine + DEATH I hate her, but I could enjoy SAX again one day.
